Our History

Youth and Family Club of Pomona Valley, also known as YFCPV. Our organization has a rich history of serving the youth and families of the Pomona Valley community.

The Boys & Girls Club of Pomona Valley was founded in 1964 by Judge Carlos Teran, who was serving as a judge in the City of Los Angeles court prior to coming to Pomona. He had a great relationship with the Variety Boys Club in East Los Angeles and would recommend many troubled youths to participate in the programs and activities found at the Variety Boys Club. When Judge Teran came to Pomona in the early 60s, he inquired about the location of a Boys Club in town and realized none existed. He decided to start a Boys Club in Pomona and, along with Clyde Warren and Tuck McGuire, spearheaded the effort to bring a positive place for kids to the city.

Over the past 60 years, the Pomona Valley club has served over 60,000 youth, and last year alone, over 2,500 boys and girls benefited from the services the organization has to offer.

Today, our organization continues to serve the youth and families of the Pomona Valley community with a new name, the Youth and Family Club of Pomona Valley (YFCPV), but the same spirit. We strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for young people to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our Programming.

At YFCPV, we offer a wide range of programs and activities to help children and youth develop critical skills, such as leadership, teamwork, and decision-making. Our goal is to provide a positive and engaging experience that promotes personal growth, social responsibility, and academic success. At YFCPV, we believe in delivering all of our programs and activities with our Youth Development Strategy. Our approach focuses on building the self-esteem of our youth through mentorship, encouragement, and by creating a sense of COMPETENCY, LEADERSHIP, USEFULNESS, and BELONGING.

Through our programs, we strive to help young people feel confident in their abilities and provide opportunities for them to develop leadership skills. We also emphasize the importance of being useful to others and contributing to the community, as well as fostering a sense of belonging and connection to others.
Our dedicated staff are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of the youth we serve. By providing a safe and nurturing environment where young people can learn, grow, and thrive, we aim to help them reach their full potential and become responsible and productive members of society.

Our Impact

The Youth & Family Club of Pomona Valley currently has one location site located minutes away from Downtown Pomona, California. Our Clubhouse has been able to reach 2,500 members daily. By gaining amazing partnerships, our impact has been able to grow immensely and reach more youth of the city of Pomona.
